Our overseas factories are messy with equipments or parts compared with our factories in Japan. A messy work place can be dangerous and decrease efficiency.
Right. I think that's because Japanese 5S methodology still hasn't spread into overseas factories.

What is the 5S?
王工
5S is the name of a workplace organization methodology that uses five Japanese words. These Japanese words have been converted in English to Sorting, Setting-in-Order, Shining, Standardizing and Sustaining the Discipline.
這5個詞匯在英語里的表述是Sorting(整理)、 Setting-in-Order(整頓)、 Shining(清掃)、Standardizing(清潔)、 Sustaining the Discipline(守紀)。
"Sorting" means to keep only essential items and eliminate things not required.
"Set-in-Order" means there should be a place for everything and everything should be in its place. And the places should be easily-accessible.
"Shining" means to clean the workspace and all equipment, and keep it clean.
"Standardizing" means to maintain the Sorting, Setting-in-Order and Shining.
Standardizing(清潔)指堅持整理、整頓、清掃。
"Sustaining the Discipline" means to accustom everyone to follow set rules and procedures.
Implementing the 5S will lead to increase in productivity, safety and quality of products.
John
That's great! We will instruct our employees to implement the 5S methodology immediately.
